How To Root Redmi Note 9 – Root process is used for cellphone users who want to have more access to their cellphones. And of course to root there is a separate way to do it, whether it’s with a PC or without a PC. In this article, I have provided the tutorial and root download for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 below.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 comes as new series of “Redmi” phones. Here are a few key specifications of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, Mediatek G85 processor which runs on Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55), 6.53 inch with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 3/4 GB RAM with 64/128 GB storage.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 uses a quad-camera setup on the back, 48 MP PDAF, 8, 2, and 2 MP depth sensors. The selfie camera from Redmi Note 9 has a resolution of 13 MP.

Note: This process will completely wipe everything from your phone, so I suggest you to first backup your important data.
How To Install TWRP on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9
Before we started this root process, you should make sure your Redmi Note 9 is already unlocked. If your Redmi Note 9 is not unlocked yet, you can visit here to unlock bootloader Redmi Note 9.
TWRP itself is a custom recovery to not only give rooting for your Android, but it’s also a place to flash another ROM or mod for your phone. Now, if you’re sure already unlocked your Redmi Note 9, then download the necessary file below.
Now follow this step to start proceeded.
STEP #1. Activate USB Debugging in your phone. Here is how to do it:
- Open Setting, scroll down until you found “About Device”.
- Now find “MIUI Version” and tap it 7 times until notification showed that indicated Developer Mode has been activated.
- Back to Settings again.
- This time, look for “Additional Settings” and find “Developer mode”.
- After you found it, make sure to activated “USB Debugging Mode”
STEP #2. Extract the TWRP file that have you downloaded then install Minimal ADB Fastboot. Now copy file twrp-redmi.img to C:\Program Files (x86)\ Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
After that, copy Noverity.zip file and SuperSU or Magisk to your sd card or USB OTG (Note: don’t copy this file to your internal storage, you need an external sd card or USB OTG).
STEP #3. Reboot your Redmi Note 9 to fastboot mode (First turn off your phone and press and hold volume down and power button together for 7 seconds). Release the buttons if your screen turns to fastboot mode like this one.
STEP #4. After you succeed to enter fastboot mode, connect your phone to PC using a USB cable. You should use an original or at least a good quality USB to avoid any circumstance.
STEP #5. Now open Minimal ADB Fastboot and type this command: fastboot flash recovery twrp-redmi.img
STEP #6. Now reboot your Redmi Note 9 with this command: fastboot boot recovery twrp-redmi.img
Congratulation, at this point you have successfully install TWRP on your Redmi Note 9. Now you must follow another instruction to finally root Xiaomi Redmi Note 9.
How To Root Xiaomi Redmi Note 9
Now I’ll assume that you have installed TWRP on your phone and now you are at TWRP screen. Now follow the next step to root Xiaomi Redmi Note 9.
STEP #1. At first, you may be noticed that your phone asking for a password that you never created and thus make you freaking out. But just relax, you only need to click “Cancel” and viola!, TWRP finally open.
STEP #2. Now after finally open, TWRP will ask your permission to modified system, then you should not give it, just choose “Keep Read ONly”.
STEP #3. After finally showed up, choose “Install” and maybe you will be surprised that your internal storage became 0, but once again you don’t need to worry. Now you must put your external sd card or your USB OTG to your phone. Go back to TWRP menu and choose “Reboot > Recovery” and wait until phone reboot to recovery, which means reboot to TWRP.
STEP #4. After TWRP opens, once again choose “Install” and now “Select Storage” and choose sd card or USB OTG depends on what you’re using. Then search Noverity.zip that you have copied before, flash it then back to back to TWRP menu, and select Reboot > Recovery.
STEP #5. Now, once again check your internal storage, if it’s still shown as 0 then you must Wipe it by using a Wipe menu and select Data. You must wipe to make your internal storage back again.
STEP #6. If your internal storage is back to normal again, it’s time for you to install SuperSU or Magisk from your external sd card or USB OTG. To do it, you must back to TWRP menu and choose Install just like a flash Noverity file before.
Also don’t forget to install Noverity.zip again if your storage is 0 and you already Wipe it.
After every process completed, you can finally reboot your Redmi Note 9 to the system. But a reminder that this time, a reboot time will be a little longer than usual, it’s normal anyway.
